As early as 12 years old, I developed an appreciation for beautiful antique furniture.  When I rented my first apartment, I furnished all the rooms with antique furniture, which eventually became a passion.  As a college student, I had limited funds for accessories, so I adorned my walls with African clothes, Indian clothes and jewelery.  I often made my clothes using unique upholstery fabric.  I became intrigued with the variety and beauty of various textile, their color and their texture.       

One day one of my classmates invited me to an African dance class.  I loved the African fabric we were required to wear and began to wonder how it would look reupholstered onto antique furniture.  The intersection between antique British colonial furniture, African fabric and various beautiful textile intrigued me, but I had no idea how to complete the vision. 

After 17 years of working in the furniture industry for various companies, I decided it was time to make my vision a reality and Boyd's Global Interiors and Design was born.  Since then, BGIAD has evolved into a company offering unique vintage and contemporary reupholstered furniture, accessories, interior styling and decor.  We believe that reupholstering antique furniture not only allows one to own a custom piece of furniture and save a bit of history, but also is environmentally sound by reducing our carbon footprint.
